In "Sanskrit" language "Bhot" means Tibet. The word Bhutan could have been derived from the word "Bhotanta" where "Bhot" means Tibet and "Anta" means the end that means the land where Tibet ends. Anyways until 1639 the country was under the control of Tibet but Bhutan got its shape only in 1907 when the ancestor of present king Jigme Singye Wangchuk unified the country. Nicked name as "Dragon Country", Bhutan perhaps is the smallest kingdom in the world. Out of the total population 65% people are of Nepalese origin who has become the part of indigenous people of Bhutan for over one century.

Trekking is the best way to see Bhutan. High passes which once carried traders between Tibet and Bhutan cut through the mountain ranges, glaciers tumble down slopes creating mountaintop lakes and fast flowing rivers that rush through narrow gorges and wind through lush valleys. Bhutan seems to be a land of Stupas, Monasteries and Chortens. The main religion in Mahayana sect of Budhism. Thimpu is the capital of the "dragon land" and is accessible through land route or by air to Paro the only one airport in Bhutan. Bhutan is accessible from Kathmandu by air two times a week. (Monday and Thursday). Visa formality, however, is a bit lengthy process and might take as much as 10 days before the departure. It is granted on arrival at Paro airport or at surface entry points.
