Known as "Roof of the world" and "Land of legendry", Tibet itself is an unexplored mystery even for Tibetans. Though most of the part of Tibet is barren and dry with harsh climate yet the famous river Brahmaputra known as Yalosangpo in Tibet traverses a long course from western part of the Tibet to eastern Tibet ultimately causing devastation almost every year in Asam in India.Tibet has to offer many attractions to the outsider as well. The famous Potala Palace once used to be the residence of Dalai Lama is a masterpiece sample of architecture. Founded on a single solid rock it has got 1300 chambers with different courtyard. Including Potala there are many more things to see in and around Lhasa, some of them being the Zokhang temple built by Nepalese princess Bhrikuti married to then almighty ruler Srangchang Gampo who had the influence even over China. Few more are Drepung and Sera monasteries. Shigatse would be another place of attraction where the amazing large statue of sitting Budha in Trashi Lungpo monastery delivers an example of perfect skill and craftsmanship of mankind.

Many more attractions are the trips driving to Rongbuk monastery (one of the oldest monastery now in ruined condition) and then visit the northern base camp of Everest. Mt. Kailash and lake mansarovar would be another equally rewardable trip. Tibet is accessible either via Hong Kong to Chengtu or Peking and then to Lhasa by air but 95% tourists visiting Tibet takes Kathmandu-Lhasa route. By making Kathmandu as a base there is more advantage. The flight time is shorter and land route also can be used as an alternative. Winter period (December to February) is not advisable to travel to Tibet and also there is no movement during the period. Normally, Kathmandu-Lhasa flight is operated on Saturday and Tuesday.
